Discover Wisconsin Features Yawkey Forest

Discover Wisconsin filmed Land Trust Days events across the state, including our paddling outing at Lake Katherine in Hazelhurst. At the outing, two dozen friends paddled to view the newly protected Yawkey Forest Reserve that includes 400+ acres of land with 4.4 miles of lake frontage, gifted from the Yawkey Lumber Company.

As shown in the below video, Yawkey Lumber Company president Robert Hagge, Jr. shares that the property has been in their family’s ownership for the last 125 years, before donating the forestland to NWLT. Our sincerest thanks to all of the Yawkey Lumber Company shareholders and representatives who committed to the lasting conservation of this historic property! We believe that this is one of the largest gifts of undeveloped shoreline to a land trust in Wisconsin.

The Discover Wisconsin episode aired on PBS on June 13, 2020. In the video, go to the 4 minute 50 second mark to see NWLT and the Yawkey Forest Reserve.
