NWLT Secures 135 Acres for Trails at Minocqua Winter Park

A complex transaction resulted in the permanent protection of 135 acres of an important hub for the Minocqua Winter Park cross-country ski trails. The Minocqua Winter Park Trail Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting and managing Minocqua Winter Park, contacted NWLT concerned about the possible sale of the property that wasn’t permanently secured for the future. NWLT was successful in purchasing the tract of land from the Tyler Family Trust. It adds to the 3,195 acres that are already protected with a perpetual conservation easement donated to NWLT in 2011 by the MWP Preservation LLC. This large conservation easement protects the core of about 43 kilometers of Minocqua Winter Park’s cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. The new Tyler tract links the core trail system with other extensive, scenic trail loops and includes two popular trails within its boundaries.
