Carlin Lake Nature Preserve
This preserve protects scenic shoreline on a private lake in the renowned Border Lakes region of Wisconsin.
Natural Features
Carlin Lake Nature Preserve is primarily upland woods that are comprised of mature sugar maple, making for excellent colors in the fall. A small open bog lies a few feet from the shoreline of Carlin Lake.
HISTORY
In October of 2018, the Last Wilderness Conservation Association transfered ownership of their conservation lands, including this property, to NWLT. The property is located in the “Border Lakes” Region of Vilas County, an area which has been recognized as a globally-significant conservation resource due to the abundance of inland freshwater lakes of glacial origin, significant wetlands, and upland forests that support biological diversity and recreational opportunities.
