Give Back to the Land

A Message from the pinkertons
Donors of 66 acres of land with over one mile of shoreland on Thunder Lake in Three Lakes
Dear Friends,
From the moment we first saw Thunder Lake, we knew we had found a truly special place. We fell in love with the land — its quiet wildness, the ancient hemlocks on the ridge, and the beauty of the rugged shoreline.
For years, our family explored and cherished our property there, which is why we ultimately chose to donate it to the Northwoods Land Trust. This established the 66-acre Pinkerton-Thunder Lake Conservation Area, a gift we made to the land itself, and to all of you, for future generations to enjoy.
But establishing the preserve was only the first step. Now, its long-term care rests in your hands.
The Northwoods Land Trust relies on supporters like you to help fund its Land Stewardship Program. Your donation ensures the crucial monitoring and maintenance that keeps these places safe and open — funding everything from maintaining public access trails (like the new one at Thunder Lake) to the quick response needed to control invasive species before they take hold.
Will you join us in giving back to the land?
Please make a special year-end gift of any amount to the Northwoods Land Trust. Whether you have already donated this year or not, your support for this vital stewardship work is needed.
Your donation is a powerful way to show gratitude for the lands that offer us so much: clean water, wildlife habitat, and serene places to escape.
Please make your gift to support forever conservation today.
Thank you for being a part of our, and the Northwoods Land Trust’s, journey at Thunder Lake.
Warmly,
Tad and Hannah
P.S. We have a delightful update: This summer, thanks to a private foundation grant, the Northwoods Land Trust established a half-mile hiking trail and seasonal parking area, making our entire donation of land, with over a mile of shoreline, more accessible for you to experience!
